We know that the eclipse was a few weeks ago, but this wedding was so awesome! These two quite literally planned their day around the eclipse, got married where it was in totality, and got some super awesome portraits from Valerie & Co. Photographers. Check out what the photographer had to say about this awesome eclipse wedding in South Carolina:
For cosmic couple Chris and Kelly, their fate and love was truly written in the stars. These two have a once-in-a-lifetime love and it’s only fitting that they chose to say “I do” the day of a once-in-a-lifetime event, the August 21st, 2017 Great American Eclipse! When the pair first met at a young-professional’s social event back in December of 2013, they quickly bonded over their shared interest in the beauties and wonders of the universe, as well as fun sci-fi adventures like Dr. Who and Star Trek. Chris & Kelly’s relationship began to grow and flourish with the two often enjoying dates spent watching the sunrise on the beach or searching for shooting stars.
Like a brave astronaut landing on the moon, Chris made “one giant leap” in June of 2017 and took up the Kaminski House Museum coordinator’s offer to book the Georgetown, SC venue for an eclipse wedding before he had even proposed to Kelly! Chris, however just knew that this would be a perfect wedding for them and from there, everything happened very fast! That same month, Chris proposed to Kelly on a romantic helicopter ride up in the skies that they both love to stargaze and marvel, and below them, their home town of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Bride to be Kelly then spent just 6 weeks quickly putting together and planning their great eclipse wedding.
Kelly always imagined she’d just elope, but couldn’t pass up this opportunity to marry the love of her life while celebrating this perfect planetary moment. Come wedding day excited Kelly got pampered and ready at the Kaminski House Museum’s neighboring property, the Stewart-Parker House. The ceremony then began just as the moon started to make it’s way in front of the sun. Chris and Kelly said their vows in front of 35 guests right along the water in the Kathryn and David Kossove Garden of the Kaminski House with Kelly’s sister, Christina, serving as officiant. The newlyweds got to mingle, snack, have their 1st dance, and enjoy the amazing experience of the day’s awesome celestial event, eclipse totality, in the company of all their loved ones!
The day continued with dining, drinks, and the traditional cake cutting which was topped with a special silhouetted bride and groom figure whisking off into a Dr. Who TARDIS time machine. In addition to the fun cake topper detail, the couple carried the day’s moon theme on with MoonPies for everyone, dark blue Tervis Tumblers for the guests that featured a depiction of an eclipse, their wedding date, and the phrase, “Love Eclipses All” and the Groom, Chris, even had a life-size replica TARDIS made just for his Bride Kelly. This couple’s intimate eclipse wedding was an amazing event where the wonders of science and the fun of science-fiction could perfectly meet!
